20 Things I Learned From Having COVID-19

No question about the results of this COVID-19 test.

Who knew that Thanksgiving at my 86-year old mother’s house would be a super-spreader event.

Well, it was, and we all feel a lot better now and are thrilled to be back amongst the living again with no long-term effects.

That said, COVID did teach me a thing or two.

1. Screen time gets boring

2. When you’re really congested and tell Siri to call “Mom” she calls Bob.

3. Not every doctor is as up to date on protocols as a researched-obsessed patient

4. Everything can be postponed. Well, everything but wasted tickets to see Lin-Manuel Miranda that I’m still crying about.

5. There are so many more outbreaks than are reported because the CDC does not want to know about positive home tests.

6. Days can fly by.

7. Days can blend together.

8. Soup is great.

9. The Maid is a good binge.

10. Cyber Monday is a very, very dangerous day to be bedridden.

11. Body temperature and pulse ox levels can fluctuate as often as you take them.

12. Taking your vitals can become an obsessive hobby.

13. If you suddenly have to move to a room in your house, it’s surprising how quickly you can “pack” and how little you really need.

14. Heated blankets mean love.

15. My appetite is just fine, thank you very much.

16. Annie Live was the perfect choice for NBC to air. Sappy and hopeful. Just what I needed right now. I’m not crying; you’re crying.

17. I really, really don’t care what my Elf name is.

18. If you have to lose one of your senses, smell is the way to go, and you can lose your smell without losing your taste.

19. I miss hugging my dog. Um kids. I meant kids.

20. Get your booster. Get your booster. Get your booster. Get your booster.

Stay well!
