Think about the emails that don’t get deleted right away, or the social posts and blogs you stop to read. (Hopefully, like this one!)
There’s something in them that captures your attention.
Other than singing dogs and cooing babies which are fun to look at, the posts that grab us are the ones that fix a problem we are having. They somehow make our lives better.
That could be anything from fixing split ends, finding comfy heels, getting a bid accepted on a house, figuring out how to make kale chips that don’t suck, to how to explain to your kids that the goldfish died.
Your business solves problems for your customer, and you need to figure out who that customer is and then tell them about it. It’s actually pretty simple.
Do it in a way that is engaging and entertaining, and you have yourself a happy buyer.

Who is your customer? What does she like to do? Where does she shop? What does she read? How old is she? Where does she live? The more details you can create for your ideal customer, the better you will be able to speak to her specific needs, the more she will come to know, like, and trust you. Use language that shows that you “get” her.

What Ails Her? She has a problem, and you have to let her know that you have identified what that problem is. She has brittle nails, she binge eats, her kids don’t listen to her, she doesn’t know where to go on vacation, she has too many traffic tickets, her parents have aging issues, she doesn’t know what fork to use at a formal dinner, or what lens to use on her new camera. (Oh, this poor, poor woman.) If you have shared traits with her, let her know. She will relate to you better.

Fix it! Now that you know what her problem is, how does using your product or working with you make her life better? Use your words to paint a specific picture of what improvement will look like.
