How up-to-date do you stay on social media trends?

Melanie Wilson is knocking over blocks that say “Melanie Wilson Media”

Do you go gung-ho for a while, then let your productivity wane?

It’s hard staying current. And the darn rules keep changing every day.

Hashtag. 30 hashtags. Five hashtags. No hashtags.

Reels Instagram. Threads. X. Trending music. Who are Dua Lipa and Machine Gun Kelly anyway?

Engage and connect. Connect and engage.

Why do you post? Where do you post?

My new craze is these Instagram tutorials that show you step-by-step how to make cool reels. The “teachers” say it’s really easy. I tried one yesterday. It’s a still shot of me on the beach and it turns into a Polaroid shot with a filter. It actually was pretty easy, but it’s not necessarily scroll-stopping or original. And it’s certainly not one of the elaborate ones that have a dozen+ steps to master.  Right now it has a staggering 341 views. Guess I'm not going viral.

So what’s more important, tryng to grab a seat at the table with these influencers who create effortlessly, or to stick to my roots and deliver important messages that rely on words, not fancy visuals.

I think I’ll stick to the latter, but will allow myself to indulge when I’m feeling especially antiquated with my messaging tactics.

What’s your latest approach?
